‘Cake and a cuppa’ at St Oswald’s Church on Yorkshire Day – Wednesday 1st August

by admin on 23 July, 2018

St Oswald’s Church is taking part in BBC Radio York’s ‘Cake and a Cuppa’ event being held on Yorkshire Day, Wednesday 1 August, between 2-4pm.

BBC Radio York is encouraging organisations all over Yorkshire to open their doors and host a cake and a cuppa event to tackle loneliness and isolation.  St Oswald’s Church has decided to join in, because these were the top issues identified by the people of Fulford in the recent church polling booths and the community survey.

As well as a cake and a cuppa, there will be activities for children, with people on hand to talk about the various activities.  All activities are aimed at reducing loneliness and isolation in our community:

  • The Village Café – which we run in our church hall in term time on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings
  • Time Out – an afternoon of entertainment for older people. This happens the second Thursday every month
  • Noah’s Ark – an afternoon of play and entertainment for toddlers and their carers – Every Wednesdays during term time
  • Youth Café – a space where young people aged 11 -16 can come and relax with friends. Every Tuesday evening during term time
