Fulford Show 2019 to be held on August Bank Holiday

by Keith Aspden on 14 August, 2019

This year’s Fulford Show will be held once again on August Bank Holiday Monday, 26th August, to raise money for local and national charities. The show will take place between 1pm and 5pm on the School Lane playing field and in the Social Hall, Fulford.

Fulford Show has been running for over a hundred years and has become a cornerstone of the local community. This popular and fun bank holiday event is a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers. The event is free to attend (50p to visit the exhibition at the social hall) and includes a variety of charity stalls, a tombola, face painting, a beer tent, miniature railway, family sports, musical entertainments, displays – with audience participation – of Japanese Drumming by Tengu School of Taiku, Tug of War challenge, food and thanks to the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight this year – a fly-past from a Supermarine Spitfire!

A craft and produce exhibition and competition will also be held at the social hall, in which adults and children are invited to show their talents. This includes bakery, photography and painting, beer and winemaking, flowers, vegetables and arts & crafts.

Cllr Keith Aspden, Councillor for Fulford and Heslington, said:

“I am pleased to be working with the Fulford Show Committee this year. I would really encourage people to come along and enjoy the day, which supports many local charities. Last year’s show was a great success and I am certain that this year, with our Spitfire fly-past, will match that. The hard work and dedication of the people involved is essential to what makes Fulford Show such a great event.”
